The aims of exhibiting the Pastor editions are many. The unraveling of the very idea of the Book in space and time is one of them. Of special importance here is the interplay of the part and the whole, the text and the implied context, the meaning and the banal form (the commentary). Just as important is the process of “bringing the text alive,” which must not be reduced merely to illustrating or theatricalizing; rather, the text has to be given an opportunity to unfold itself, to color itself, to define itself. Here logic coexists with a will-less thought, and freely flowing sentiment is just a step away from a euphorically terse style. Here both the Self and the Mask are present, and between them - perhaps most importantly - stands Laughter.
